Infoblox Move to Unify Security amid New Network Complexity
In an era where digital transformation and cloud adoption have become paramount for business success, companies are grappling with increasingly complex network environments.
Network security company Infoblox has therefore unveiled a solution to address this: Universal DDI Product Suite.
“Network architectures must be reimagined for hybrid, multi-cloud deployments to enable companies to move fast with confidence,” said Scott Harrell, President and CEO, Infoblox.
This suite is designed to address the mounting challenges of managing and securing hybrid and multi-cloud environments by breaking down silos and providing comprehensive visibility and security across the entire network.
The complexities of modern networks
The shift towards hybrid and multi-cloud strategies has introduced a new level of complexity to network management and security. According to Infoblox, a staggering 91% of global organisations report using two or more cloud service providers.
While this approach offers benefits such as enhanced innovation, streamlined operations, and modernised workloads, it also compounds the challenges faced by IT teams.
Each new environment added to a company's digital infrastructure increases the complexity of critical network services management and amplifies the risk of human error.
Equally, managing multiple siloed DNS environments not only increases operational costs but also reduces agility. Fragmented IP address management across various public clouds and on-premises infrastructure can lead to IP conflicts, risking network and application outages.
The lack of centralised visibility across hybrid clouds can result in higher costs from zombie or orphaned workloads, which also pose significant security risks. As each cloud provider typically has its own set of tools, APIs, and security controls, it makes it challenging to maintain a consistent security approach across all environments.
Infoblox's unified approach
The Universal DDI Product Suite therefore aims to break down silos across Network Operations (NetOps), Cloud Operations (CloudOps) and Security Operations (SecOps) by offering a set of automation-ready solutions that enable teams to centrally manage DNS, DHCP, and IP addresses more efficiently.
The suite comprises three key offerings:
- Universal DDI Management for unified critical network services management across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. It offers policy-driven network and IP address allocation, improving efficiency and reliability while preventing network outages.
- Universal Asset Insights provides a comprehensive view of assets across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. It extends DNS and DHCP to IP address management (IPAM), offering continuous updates to the IPAM inventory and automatically identifying unused IP addresses and zombie workloads.
- NIOS-X as a Service is purpose-built to extend critical network services close to users and workloads without requiring infrastructure deployment. This solution offers operational simplicity for CloudOps teams while providing the resilience, consistency, visibility, and security that NetOps and SecOps require.
Addressing core challenges
Infoblox's new suite directly addresses several key challenges faced by organisations in managing complex digital networks.
The Universal Asset Insights offers real-time visibility into all cloud environments, enabling more efficient threat detection and response.
This aligns with the industry need for centralised monitoring solutions to maintain visibility and control over applications and data in multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
By providing a unified management platform, Infoblox's solution helps organisations implement standardised security practices across all cloud environments, reducing the risk of security gaps. The unified portal and automation-ready solutions can help bridge skill gaps by providing platform-specific protections and simplifying management across diverse cloud environments.
The introduction of Infoblox's Universal DDI Product Suite represents a significant step towards addressing the complexities of modern network management and security.
As businesses continue to navigate the complexities of digital transformation and cloud adoption, solutions that offer unified management, comprehensive visibility, and enhanced security will become increasingly crucial.
