In today’s AgTech landscape, networks are more than infrastructure; they are catalysts for innovation. At Syngenta, a global science-based AgTech company, connectivity underpins sustainable farming. Since 2021, Kris Manning, Global Head of IT Networks, has steered a digital transformation rooted in four pillars: stability, security, performance and enablement.

AI plays a key role. Syngenta uses LogicMonitor’s AI (Edwin) to reduce alerts by 95%, transforming network monitoring into proactive, intelligent operations. “It can analyse vast amounts of data from multiple sources, identify patterns and make informed decisions,” says Kris.

Wireless is another frontier. A “wireless-first” strategy helps reduce cost and complexity while Syngenta uses wireless data for smart facilities and safety management.

Security-wise, Syngenta explores SASE/SSE models, balancing Zero Trust principles with resilience. “Do I want all my eggs in one basket?” Kris asks, signalling a cautious but open stance.

Key partners like BT, SecureOps, and GTT have been central to Syngenta’s success ensuring stability, extending global reach and aligning with business values.

With automation, SD-WAN, and cloud-forward strategies on the horizon, Syngenta proves that IT is no longer supported it’s a strategic driver fuelling innovation across global agriculture.
