Palo Alto Networks opens new UK headquarters in London

Global cyber security leader, Palo Alto Networks, earlier this week announced the opening of its new UK headquarters situated in the City of London

The opening of Palo Alto Networks' impressive new location in the heart of London’s business district, is set to create a staggering 485 new cybersecurity jobs over the course of the next five years, as it invests to support the company’s expanding customer base across the UK.

Set on the 55th floor of 22 Bishopsgate, offering unbeatable panoramic views of the city, the new headquarters will play host to a number of different functions including sales, customer support, systems engineers, and Unit 42 threat intelligence professionals.

Helmut Reisinger, CEO of EMEA and LATAM for Palo Alto Networks, says: “As the UK works towards achieving the Government’s ambition of becoming a technology and scientific superpower by 2030, cybersecurity will be critical to its success. As new technologies transform how organisations across the UK operate, they are fuelling a rapid increase in cyber threats that directly impact the levels of resilience and trust in an interconnected economy.

“We are thrilled to welcome our customers, partners, and employees to our new headquarters in London, and we look forward to expanding our UK operations as we invest to safeguard the UK’s digital future.”

A customer focused approach through an expanding workforce

Founded in 2005, Palo Alto Networks first established its presence in the UK in 2009, and has since seen remarkable expansion as more customers increasingly embrace the company’s unique AI-driven cybersecurity platforms to protect their networks, cloud resources and endpoints, and run their security operations centre.

In order to accommodate its growing customer base across the UK, Palo Alto Networks plans to expand its workforce, with a particular focus on sales and systems engineers. Additionally, the company aims to enhance its Unit 42 threat intelligence, cyber advisory services, and incident response capabilities in the UK.

“Our new UK headquarters and continued investment in the UK builds on Palo Alto Networks commitment to the UK over the past 14 years, and will create new jobs and enhance our ability to help our customers stay ahead of emerging cyber threats.” says Gavin Mee, Vice President of Northern and Western Europe at Palo Alto Networks.

“As the digitalisation of industries in the UK accelerates, cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated, innovative, and persistent, and we see it as our mission to protect the growth of the UK with the very best cybersecurity platforms”.

Increasing cybersecurity skills across the UK

As Palo Alto Networks continues to expand its presence in the UK, the company is dedicated to fostering knowledge and skills development, with the goal of encouraging individuals from all backgrounds to choose a career in the field of cybersecurity.

The organisation takes pride in collaborating with both public and private partners, to provide educational programs and content that showcase accessible career opportunities for everyone, regardless of background or level of experience.

One of the company's partnerships is with the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) CyberFirst Girls Competition, which aims to motivate young individuals with an interest in technology to consider a career in the field of cybersecurity.

Gavin Mee comments: ‘We are very pleased to be doing this. The NCSC is obviously a really important organisation at the forefront of setting the modernization and strategy for us as a nation. We align with them very heavily around things like the cyber assessment framework, and one of the big areas that they focus on, which I think is superb, is around the skills agenda.”

As part of its partnership, a “Capture the Flag” event is being held on Friday 6th October at the new offices, for students from schools across London, where they will work alongside engineers on a range of activities to help them understand, appreciate, and align to the opportunity of working in cybersecurity.
